Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate for Clydebank and Milngavie, Pam Gosal, has given her full backing to protect Milngavie’s greenbelt and is urging locals to make their voice heard in the council’s current consultation.
Mrs Gosal, who lives in Milngavie, says her experience of working closely with planning departments in attracting inward investment to create jobs for more than a decade, has shown that whilst she is not against development, it must be in the appropriate sites with the right infrastructure to support it.
She is also very aware that green space in the local area is absolutely vital for boosting people’s mental health, particularly during the current lockdown measures.
Milngavie has significantly expanded in recent years and the businesswoman wants to ensure that any future development is directed to brownfield sites and is carried out in tandem with infrastructure upgrades, including boosts to connectivity, transport and ensuring schools and surgeries are not overwhelmed.
Mrs Gosal is also backing proposals from Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross, who has recently stated that if his party are elected in May he would ensure that no planning decisions made at a local level would ever be overturned by the Scottish Government's Reporter in Edinburgh.
The council’s consultation runs until January 15, and Mrs Gosal, who volunteers for Milngavie In Bloom, says “she will always stand to protect the area’s greenbelt if she is elected in May.”
Scottish Conservative candidate Pam Gosal said: “Our greenbelt in Milngavie and the surrounding area is of the utmost importance and we must do everything we can to protect it going forward.”
She continued: “I would urge everyone to make their views known in the council’s consultation to ensure their voices are heard and developments are built in the appropriate places.”
“Our green spaces are vital for boosting our mental and physical health, particularly during current lockdown measures in order to allow people to get out and about.
“I love living in Milngavie and will always stand up to protect our wonderful greenbelt spaces, in line with the wishes of the local community.”
